Biography

Edison e Telma is a pioneering Brazilian contemporary Christian music duo formed in the early 1970s by the married couple Edison Fernandes Coelho and Telma Moreira de Carvalho Fernandes Coelho. Known for their original compositions and a remarkably extensive discography, they stand as one of the most traditional and long-running acts within the Protestant musical niche of Brazil.

Throughout their career, the duo released numerous albums exploring themes of faith and devotion, establishing themselves firmly in the religious music scene. Their most celebrated work, the 1983 album Deus Vivo, achieved widespread critical recognition and was later listed by historians and journalists in 2015 as the 62nd greatest album in Brazilian Christian music history.

In 1996, Edison e Telma celebrated a major career milestone by recording their live 25 Anos album, which was distributed by the prominent record label MK Music. Their enduring legacy in the genre aligns them with other significant Brazilian gospel acts such as those found in the rich history of Protestant music, alongside contemporaries who helped shape the sound of contemporary Christian music in the country.
