Edmar Gonçalves de Alencar is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and visual artist born in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, in 1962. Growing up amid frequent family relocations across various cities, he eventually settled in Fortaleza, where he developed a dual passion for music and the visual arts in parallel. Over the decades, he built a solid career performing MPB in local venues, opening for prominent artists such as Alceu Valença, and participating in regional music festivals like the Canta Nordeste.

His discography reflects a rich collaborative spirit and deep roots in Brazilian popular music. His debut vinyl album, Aprendiz, released in the early 1990s, featured notable guest appearances by acclaimed artists like Belchior, Kátia Freitas, Calé Alencar, and Marcus Café. Subsequent albums, such as Bússola and Em Cima do Tempo, further cemented his reputation as a mature and reflective composer, collaborating with musicians like Manassés, Nilson Chaves, and Cristiano Pinho.
