Biography
Edson Cordeiro was born in Santo André on February 9, 1967, and spent his childhood in the city of Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo. From an early age, he was involved with music, singing in the choir of the Independent Presbyterian Church from the ages of six to 16. Before establishing his solo career, he worked in theater and musical productions, participating in the rock opera Amapola, directed by Miguel Briamonte, and the Brazilian version of the rock opera Hair, under the direction of Antônio Abujamra.
The artist gained major prominence starting in 1990, when he performed his first solo show in Rio de Janeiro. He stood out nationally and internationally for his countertenor vocal timbre, capable of reaching soprano, alto, or contralto tessituras. His remarkably eclectic repertoire moved through classical composers like Mozart and MPB icons like Noel Rosa, while also interpreting artists such as Dalva de Oliveira and Bidu Saião.
Throughout his career, he recorded highly acclaimed albums for Sony, such as Edson Cordeiro and Terceiro sinal, in addition to undertaking successful tours across Europe and the Americas. His versatility allowed him to move between classical music, MPB, samba-enredo, and dance music, building a diverse discography that includes projects released abroad.
