Biography

Edson Reis de França, widely known as Edson França or Edinho, was a Brazilian singer, violinist, and composer.

He is best known as a founding member of the popular vocal group Trio Irakitan, which he formed in 1950 with Paulo Gilvan Duarte Bezerril and João Manoel de Araújo Costa Netto. The trio achieved significant success both in Brazil and internationally, touring countries like Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Trio Irakitan also participated in eighteen films, showcasing their versatility beyond musical performances.

França's musical contributions extended to songwriting, with several of his compositions, often in collaboration with partners like Chico Elion and Costa Netto, being recorded by Trio Irakitan and other artists. His work encompassed various Brazilian genres, including samba and boleros. Tragically, Edson França died by suicide in Rio de Janeiro in 1965, a profound loss to the Brazilian music scene.
