Biography

Eduardo Gabor Dusek, known artistically as Eduardo Dussek or Duardo Dusek, was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 1, 1954. The son of European immigrants, he had early contact with music and began his artistic career playing piano in theater plays while still a teenager, having composed his first marchinha at nine years old under the influence of Carmen Miranda. Throughout the seventies, he began performing in solo shows and formed a band that received the sponsorship of Gilberto Gil, consolidating his name in the Rio de Janeiro music scene.

National recognition came in the eighties, a period when his compositions gained prominence in the voices of important MPB interpreters, such as Ney Matogrosso, As Frenéticas and Maria Alcina. Known for combining social satire and a great deal of humor in his repertoire, Dussek stood out at the MPB Shell festival by performing in his underwear, in addition to charting major hits in humorous pop rock, such as the LP Cantando no Banheiro and striking tracks like "Rock da Cachorra" and "Barrados no Baile". His irreverence led him to join the line-up of the first Rock in Rio in 1985 and to transition smoothly between music, theater and television.

Alongside his musical career, the artist expanded his work into Brazilian television drama and cinema, participating in high-rated soap operas and successful musicals. In the nineties and two-thousands, he remained active composing for television soundtracks, playing memorable characters and paying tribute to icons of national culture. In 2000, he formally changed the spelling of his artistic name to Eduardo Dussek, seeking the correct pronunciation, and in the following years he continued producing across various artistic fronts, including painting.
