Biography

Eduardo Gudin is a central figure in Brazilian popular music, standing out as one of the most refined composers and acoustic guitarists of his generation. His professional career had an early and striking beginning in 1966, when, at the age of 16, he was invited by Elis Regina to perform on the iconic show "O Fino da Bossa". Since then, Gudin has established himself as a master songsmith, uniting the tradition of samba and choro with a unique harmonic and lyrical sophistication.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the artist became a constant and award-winning presence in major Brazilian music festivals. Among his most emblematic hits are "Lá Se Vão Meus Anéis", composed in partnership with Paulo César Pinheiro and performed by Originais do Samba, and "Verde", which nationally projected the voice of Leila Pinheiro in 1985. In addition to his creative facet, Eduardo played a fundamental role in the education and institutionalization of music in São Paulo, being one of the founders of the Free Music University (ULM) and the creator of the Jazz Sinfônica Orchestra.

With a vast discography spanning decades, Gudin also acted as an exceptional producer, being responsible for Beth Carvalho's award-winning album dedicated to the samba of São Paulo. Throughout his career, he maintained fruitful collaborations with names such as Vânia Bastos, to whom he was married, and the group Notícias dum Brasil, reaffirming his commitment to the renewal and preservation of the high quality of Brazilian songwriting.
