Biography

Adriano Grande, known by his stage name Egypcio, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and producer born in São Paulo in 1969. His musical journey began at the age of 10 when he first encountered a drum kit at a Catholic church, sparking a lifelong passion for music. Initially learning to play the drums, he later transitioned to vocals in 1991, finding his calling as a frontman.

Egypcio rose to national prominence as the lead vocalist of the rock band Tihuana, which he co-founded in 1998. With Tihuana, he recorded several successful albums, including "Ilegal" (2000) and "Tropa de Elite – Ao Vivo" (2008), with the latter's title track becoming a massive hit after being featured in the acclaimed film of the same name. After nearly two decades with the band, Egypcio announced his departure in 2017 to pursue new projects.

Beyond his work with Tihuana, Egypcio has been involved in various other musical endeavors. He is the founder of Urbana Legion, a tribute project to the iconic Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana, which even set previously unreleased lyrics by Renato Russo to music. He also formed the band Cali, and has collaborated with other notable Brazilian artists, including participating in a tribute tour celebrating 30 years of Charlie Brown Jr. Egypcio continues to be an active force in the Brazilian music scene, releasing new material and performing across the country.
