Biography

Eliete Negreiros emerged as a significant voice in Brazilian music, particularly associated with the "Vanguarda Paulista" movement of the 1980s. Her artistic journey began with an early exposure to music, influenced by her mother's piano and her uncle's mandolin. Despite attending the Music Conservatory, she pursued a degree in Philosophy from USP. Negreiros's professional career took flight in the 1970s when she toured Mexico and the United States, performing with Brazilian music ensembles.

Upon her return to Brazil in 1982, Negreiros released her debut solo LP, "Outros Sons," which was produced by Arrigo Barnabé. This album garnered critical acclaim, earning her the APCA Award for Revelation of the Year. Her work is characterized by a blend of original compositions from notable artists and reinterpretations of Brazilian classics. She has been lauded as a "muse" of the Vanguarda Paulista, a testament to her unique contribution to the movement.

Throughout her career, Eliete Negreiros has released several acclaimed albums, including "Ângulos: Tudo Está Dito" (1986), "Eliete Negreiros" (1989), "Canção Brasileira: A Nossa Bela Alma" (1992), for which she received the APCA Award for Best Singer, and "Dezesseis Canções de Tamanha Ingenuidade" (1996).
