Biography

Eloi Vicente is a Brazilian singer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist, known for his contributions to Bossa Nova and MPB.

He began his musical career in the 1970s, joining the group Som Livre, which was responsible for recording numerous soundtracks for Rede Globo telenovelas. Vicente also performed with various dance bands and played in several Rio de Janeiro venues, including Álibi, where he was a regular for five years. His instrumental skills extend to guitar, bass, flute, harmonica, and drums.

Vicente was a member of the iconic vocal group Os Cariocas, participating in several of their albums and tours. After the passing of maestro Severino Filho in 2016, Vicente, along with other former members of Os Cariocas, formed the Quarteto do Rio. This ensemble continues to celebrate the legacy of Brazilian popular music, particularly Bossa Nova, performing both in Brazil and internationally. The Quarteto do Rio has been recognized with nominations for the Prêmio da Música Brasileira.
