Elomar Figueira Mello, born on December 21, 1937, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist, and poet renowned for his unique artistic creations that blend classical and popular music. Raised in the rural sertão region of Bahia, his work is deeply influenced by the traditions of northeastern Brazil, incorporating elements of cantoria (traditional sung poetry) and repentismo (improvised sung poetry). Despite his rural upbringing, Elomar also pursued formal education, graduating in architecture from the Federal University of Bahia.

His musical style is characterized by a rich and complex language, often employing regional dialects, archaisms, and neologisms to evoke the essence of the sertanejo culture. Elomar's compositions are known for their intricate melodies and harmonies, often blurring the lines between folk, classical, and even medieval European influences.
