Biography

Eloy Casagrande was born in Santo André, São Paulo, in 1991, and began his journey on the drums at seven years of age, encouraged by his mother. Initially, he dedicated himself to traditional Brazilian rhythms such as samba and baião, before transitioning to rock and metal, studying with renowned teachers like Vera Figueiredo and Aquiles Priester. While still a teenager, he stood out in national and international competitions, establishing himself as a true prodigy of the instrument in the Brazilian music scene.

Throughout his career, he has been a part of several prominent projects, including stints with the bands Mr. Ego, AcllA, Iahweh, 2OIS, Gloria, and singer Andre Matos's solo band, with whom he recorded the album Mentalize. In 2011, he took over the drums for Sepultura, succeeding Jean Dolabella, and actively participated in important albums and international tours of the heavy metal band until his departure in 2024. His solid technical reputation and versatility opened doors to the global scene, culminating in his joining the American band Slipknot.

Internationally recognized for his power, precision, and speed, Eloy Casagrande has received prestigious awards, such as best metal drummer by Modern Drummer magazine and the Drumeo portal. His work transitions between the weight of extreme metal and the rhythmic roots of his training in Brazil, influencing new generations of drummers alongside major icons of heavy music like Andre Matos and the members of Sepultura.
