Biography

Ely Bueno was a Brazilian visual artist, born in Rio de Janeiro on June 21, 1923. She was known for her work as a painter and engraver, and also dedicated herself to teaching art.

Bueno's artistic training included studies with renowned Brazilian artists such as Di Cavalcanti, Samson Flexor, Lívio Abramo, and Maria Bonomi. She explored abstraction under Flexor's guidance and honed her printmaking skills with Abramo and Bonomi. Her artistic career spanned several decades, with numerous individual and collective exhibitions held in Brazil and internationally, including in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Washington D.C.

Beyond her artistic production, Ely Bueno was also an educator, sharing her knowledge and passion for art with students. Her work is recognized for its unique style and contribution to Brazilian visual arts. She passed away in São Paulo, with her death date estimated around 2020.
