Biography

Elymar Santos, artistic name of Elimar Santos, was born in Morro do Alemão, in Rio de Janeiro, on October 11, 1952. The singer and songwriter adopted the 'y' in his name upon achieving national projection, standing out in the MPB and Brazilian romantic music scene for his striking voice and a career punctuated by memorable shows, such as his celebrated performances at the Canecão concert venue.

Throughout his career, Elymar became known for his interpretive versatility, recording works of renowned composers and landing hits of his own, such as "Escancarando de Vez" and "Guerreiros Não Morrem Jamais", the latter dedicated to racing driver Ayrton Senna. His versatility led him to transition through various genres and share stages and projects with major names in national culture, such as Wando, Cazuza, Raul Seixas, Roupa Nova, and Elis Regina.

In addition to his intense discography and remarkable runs on stages across the country, the artist also made his presence felt on television, acting in productions like the telenovela O Clone and joining the cast of Salve Jorge. Consolidated as one of the great popular names in Brazilian music, he has received honors such as the Tiradentes Medal in the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
