Biography

Elza Laranjeira was a Brazilian singer born in Bauru, São Paulo, on June 16, 1925. She began her artistic career in the 1940s, replacing Leny Eversong on a radio show hosted by Blota Júnior. Her smooth voice and striking interpretation established her as one of the great voices of samba-canção and an exceptional interpreter of Dolores Duran's compositions.

Throughout her career, Elza Laranjeira recorded several hits, including "A Noite do Meu Bem" and "Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar", the latter written by Tom Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes. She also explored other musical genres, such as samba, waltz, and bolero, demonstrating her versatility. Her career had its ups and downs, including a step away from artistic life in 1963 and a return in 1975, continuing to perform until shortly before her passing on July 22, 1986.

In addition to her musical career, Elza Laranjeira also ventured into cinema, acting in films like "Areião" (1952), "Ravina" (1958), and "É Proibido Beijar" (1954). She was married to fellow singer Agostinho dos Santos, with whom she shared a passion for music. Her work continues to be rediscovered and appreciated by new generations, cementing her legacy in Brazilian popular music.
