Biography
Érika Machado is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Her musical career began to take shape in 2003, when she recorded the EP "Baratinho", initially conceived to be sold at street vendor stalls as part of an urban intervention project. This work, which blended opinion, storytelling, performance, and visual arts, drew attention and encouraged her to use song as her main vehicle of expression. In 2006, she released her first official album, "No Cimento", produced by John Ulhoa from Pato Fu. The record was critically acclaimed, earning her the revelation of the year award in the MPB category by APCA (São Paulo Association of Art Critics) and opening doors for new collaborations and recognition in the Brazilian music scene.
The success of "No Cimento" propelled Érika to continue her artistic output. In 2009, she released her second album, "Bem Me Quer Mal Me Quer", once again produced by John Ulhoa and sponsored by Petrobrás. This work explored more melancholic and introspective themes, addressing fading loves, loneliness, and longing for loved ones. In 2015, the artist innovated by releasing "Superultramegafluuu", an album aimed at children, demonstrating her versatility and ability to navigate different musical universes.
In 2019, Érika Machado moved to Lisbon, Portugal, where she continued to develop her career. There, she formed the project "Spicy Noodles" with Portuguese keyboardist Filipa Bastos. In 2022, she released the EP "Devastei o meu jardim por você", composed and recorded during the pandemic, featuring songs that reflect the creative process shared on social media. This EP, which includes tracks like "Mandinga" and "Maria Joana", was a winner of the Ibermúsicas Program. Érika Machado's trajectory is marked by experimentation, originality, and the constant search for new forms of artistic expression, always maintaining a dialogue with the rich Brazilian music scene, including through partnerships with artists like John Ulhoa.
