Biography

Érika Menezes Martins, born in Amparo, São Paulo, is a renowned Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Her career gained significant national prominence in the late 1990s when she founded and led the band Penélope, originally called Penélope Charmosa, whose debut album "Mi Casa, Su Casa" achieved impressive sales and recognition at festivals such as Rock in Rio.

Throughout her career, Érika has expanded her artistic work by participating in important projects and bands from the Brazilian independent and alternative scene. She was a member of the group Lafayette & os Tremendões, focused on Jovem Guarda, and took over the vocals for the band Autoramas between 2015 and 2023. In addition, she has released critically acclaimed solo works, collaborated with established artists such as Herbert Vianna, Raimundos, and Otto, and formed memorable partnerships, such as the track recorded with Fernanda Takai.

Currently, Érika Martins remains active on multiple fronts, leading the 25th-anniversary commemorative tour of the band Penélope, joining the group Capsula alongside musicians like Lelo Zaneti and Haroldo Ferretti, and presenting the project "Chuveiro in Concert." With a rich discography that moves through alternative rock and retro aesthetics, she remains an influential figure in the country's independent music scene.
