Biography

The group Escambo emerged in late 2006, formed by composers and poets Renato Frazão, Thiago Thiago de Mello, and Lucas Dain. The initial proposal was the interpretation of original songs and poems, highlighting the rhythmic variety in their compositions. The name "Escambo" refers to barter and negotiation, reflecting the idea of an exchange of ideas and sonorities that the group sought in its music.

In 2009, Escambo released their debut album, "Flúor", which featured the participation of singer Aline Paes. The CD release show took place at the Centro Cultural Carioca, in Rio de Janeiro. In the same year, the group was one of the three finalists for the Brazilian Music Award (Prêmio da Música Brasileira) in the Best MPB Group category, an important recognition in their early trajectory.

Throughout its existence, Escambo explored sonorities that dialogue with traditional MPB, but also incorporate elements of other musical traditions and even influences from 1980s Brazilian rock, the decade in which the members were born. This fusion resulted in a contemporary sound, featuring the use of synthesizers and effects, without losing focus on the "well-crafted song," as they themselves describe it. The group stands out for its originality and constant pursuit of new musical experimentations.
