Biography

Estrela Ruiz Leminski is a Brazilian writer, composer, and musician born in Curitiba in 1981. She comes from a rich literary and artistic heritage as the daughter of renowned poets Paulo Leminski and Alice Ruiz. She pursued formal music education, graduating from the Faculdade de Artes do Paraná, specializing in Brazilian Popular Music, and earning a master's degree in Music and Musicology from Valladolid, Spain.

In 2014, she launched the Leminskanções project, dedicated to celebrating and preserving her father's lesser-known legacy as a songwriter. Alongside her musical and literary career, she has published several works of poetry and literature, including Cupido, cuspido, escarrado in 2004, Poesia é Não in 2010, and Quando a inocência morreu in 2024. Her academic background also includes a monograph titled Contra-Indústria published in 2006.

Estrela frequently collaborates with her husband, Téo Ruiz, forming a musical partnership that has yielded multiple albums such as Músicas de Ruiz, São Sons, and the critically acclaimed Tudo Que Não Quero Falar Sobre Amor released in 2017. This elaborate project featured contributions from prominent Brazilian artists like Guilherme Kastrup, Dante Ozzetti, and Pupillo. Their diverse output also includes politically charged works like the carnival protest song Você Não Segurou el Samba in 2020.
