Biography

Euterpe, whose real name is Andressa Nascimento, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Boa Vista, Roraima, in 1985. Her musical journey began under the influence of her father, an amateur keyboardist, and by the age of seven, she was already participating in various choirs. By 17, she was performing in live music venues, a path she continued after moving to Manaus.

Returning to Roraima, Euterpe gained recognition in music festivals and competitions between 2007 and 2008. Her debut album, "Batida Brasileira," was released in 2009, financed by musician Eliakin Rufino, whom she won alongside at the Festival Canto Forte. Six years later, she released the second volume of "Batida Brasileira," further developing her unique blend of indigenous music, Amazonian sambas, xote, reggae, and MPB. She has since released five albums, including a children's album and a live recording.

In 2020, Euterpe was honored with the Prêmio Grão de Música for her body of work, which includes collaborations with prominent Amazonian musicians such as Eliakin Rufino, Gilberto Mendonça Teles, Sergio Barros, and Márcia Novo. Academically, she holds a degree in music from the Federal University of Roraima and also works as an arts teacher in the state's education system. Her music is characterized by a fusion of regional Amazonian rhythms with MPB, showcasing her deep connection to her roots.
