Biography
A Família Roitman was a Brazilian musical group formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1989, with a strong inclination toward samba. The band's name was inspired by the iconic villain from the soap opera "Vale Tudo", Odete Roitman, played by Beatriz Segall. Initially a quartet, the lineup eventually consolidated as a trio, composed of Léo Tomassini on vocals, Felipe Trotta on acoustic guitar, and Di Lutgardes on drums and percussion.
The group released their debut album, "O Samba nas Regras da Arte", in 1995, through the record label Dubas Música. This work was well received by critics and gained releases in Europe, Japan, and the United States, which opened doors for the release of their second and final record, "Coisa da Antiga", in 1998, via Rob Digital. Both albums featured a repertoire that revisited samba classics, including compositions by names such as Noel Rosa, Ismael Silva, Paulinho da Viola, Chico Buarque, and Wilson Moreira.
A Família Roitman ended its activities in 2003, following a 14-year career. Despite not having achieved massive stardom, the group left its mark on the samba scene by presenting a sound that blended tradition with a youthful and respectful approach, earning praise from established names of the genre, such as Paulinho da Viola and Noca da Portela.
