Fátima Guedes is a distinguished Brazilian singer and songwriter whose career is deeply rooted in the MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) tradition. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1958, she began composing at the young age of fifteen. Her talent was quickly recognized when she won first place at the Hélio Alonso College Music Festival with her song "Passional." Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, she established herself as a sophisticated composer, with her works being recorded by some of the most iconic voices in Brazil, including the legendary Elis Regina.\n\nGuedes is celebrated for her lyrical depth and melodic complexity. Her discography spans several decades, starting with her self-titled albums on the Odeon label and later becoming a pioneer for the independent label Velas, founded by Ivan Lins and Vitor Martins.
