Biography

Fausto Nilo Costa Júnior is a renowned Brazilian songwriter, architect, and poet born in Quixeramobim. He is widely celebrated as one of the most prolific composers in Brazilian popular music, alongside legendary figures like Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, and Tom Jobim. His extensive catalogue includes around 400 major successes recorded by iconic performers across the country.

Moving to Fortaleza at a young age, he pursued architecture at the Federal University of Ceará while developing his artistic path. During the 1970s, he became a central figure in the influential musical movement known as "Pessoal do Ceará," collaborating closely with artists such as Fagner and Belchior. In addition to his prominent contributions to MPB and Brazilian poetry, he maintained a distinguished career in architecture, notably designing Fortaleza's Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar.

His timeless compositions have been brought to life by some of Brazil's greatest interpreters, including Gal Costa, Ney Matogrosso, and Moraes Moreira. Over his decades-long career, he has earned widespread critical acclaim, including two Sharp Awards in the Best Popular Song category. His enduring legacy remains deeply woven into the fabric of Brazilian cultural and musical history.
