Biography

Felipe Azevedo is a Brazilian musician, composer, singer-songwriter, musical educator, and cultural producer, born on February 16, 1964, in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul. He is known for his unique "Violão com Voz" (Guitar with Voice) technique, which integrates guitar playing and singing into a cohesive performance.

Azevedo's musical journey began with drumming in his childhood, followed by playing the recorder and eventually dedicating himself to the guitar and singing. He is proficient in playing 6 and 7-string guitars, viola caipira, ukulele, and cavaquinho. Initially self-taught, he honed his skills through a guitar course by Uruguayan master Isaías Sávio. His music is influenced by the diverse musical geographies of Brazil and various global genres, filtered through his distinct creative process.

Throughout his career, Felipe Azevedo has released four albums: "Cimbalê" (1998), "Identidades" (2002), "Percussìvé ou a prece do louva-a-deus" (2007), and "Tamburilando Canções – Felipe Azevedo – Violão com voz" (2011/12). His songs have been recorded by notable artists such as Mônica Salmaso, Marcos Suzano, Angela Jobim, and Adriana Marques. He has also composed soundtracks for films and theater productions. Azevedo is a six-time winner of the Açorianos Awards, a prestigious music award in Southern Brazil, and has toured internationally, performing in countries like Switzerland, Norway, France, and Uruguay. He has shared the stage with renowned Brazilian artists such as Guinga, Hermeto Pascoal, and Ulisses Rocha.
