Biography

Felipe Cerquize is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, poet, and guitarist, born in Rio de Janeiro on July 5, 1958. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Marketing, but his passion for music led him to a successful career in the Brazilian music scene. Cerquize's artistic journey began to gain prominence in 1999 with the release of his self-titled album "Léguas," which featured an introduction by the renowned composer Guttemberg Guarabyra. This debut showcased his talent as both a lyricist and a melodist, establishing him as a notable voice in MPB.

Throughout his career, Cerquize has collaborated with a wide array of prominent Brazilian artists, including Claudio Nucci, Márcio Borges, Tavito, Kiko Furtado, and Nilson Chaves, among many others. His compositions have been recorded by various artists, highlighting his versatility and the quality of his songwriting. One notable collaboration is the song "Nossos filhos," with melody by Cerquize and lyrics by Márcio Borges, which was recorded by Claudio Nucci. He has also seen his work recognized internationally, with the composition "Medida" (co-written with Felipe Radicetti) being nominated for the Hollywood Music Award in Los Angeles.
