Biography

Felipe & Falcão is a Brazilian sertanejo duo formed in 1985 by Felipe (Marcelo Justino de Moraes) and the original Falcão (Antônio Rosa Ribeiro). The duo quickly rose to prominence in the Brazilian music scene, particularly within the sertanejo genre, known for their romantic ballads and distinct vocal styles. Felipe, originally from Jataí, Goiás, had a background in business and had participated in music festivals before forming the duo. Falcão, born in Morrinhos, Goiás, was a journalism graduate who worked as a TV presenter before his musical career.

Their debut album, "Gosto da Felicidade," released in 1986, featured hits like "Por Amor Se Morre" and "Gosto da Felicidade," gaining significant traction in Goiás and leading to numerous regional performances. The success continued with their second album in 1987, which included popular songs such as "Que Pena," "Você é Isso," and "Homem Tem Que Ter Mulher," selling over 300,000 copies nationwide. This cemented their status as a major force in Brazilian sertanejo music, with a string of hits that became staples in their live shows.

Tragically, the original Falcão passed away on September 18, 2009, due to complications from a generalized infection and erysipelas, at the age of 53. Despite the immense loss, Felipe continued the duo's legacy, forming a new partnership with Almiro Almeida de Oliveira, who also adopted the stage name Falcão. The duo, in its various formations, has released numerous albums and DVDs, celebrating decades of success and remaining a respected name in Brazilian sertanejo music. Felipe himself is also recognized as a prolific songwriter, with compositions recorded by other renowned artists in the genre.
