Biography

Fernanda Kostchak is a violinist renowned for the powerful and captivating way she plays her instrument. Her performances are marked by an irresistible and boundary-pushing approach to the violin, which she began studying through classical and erudite music. After obtaining her academic training, Kostchak ventured into exploring diverse musical styles, a quest that has guided her path in broadening her repertoire and developing a unique artistic identity.

Kostchak gained significant recognition as a member of the band Vanguart, with whom she received the MTV Brasil VMB Award for Best Band in 2012. The band also performed at the Lollapalooza Brasil festival in 2013 and was recognized by Folha newspaper for Best Album of 2013. Her touring with Vanguart across Brazil culminated in the live DVD "Muito Mais Que O Amor" released in 2016. Internationally, she has been a regular performer at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in France, and in 2013, her group (Oran) was among the top 10 finalists for the Loïc Raison Trophy.

Her work is heavily influenced by Celtic music, where the violin plays a prominent role. However, Kostchak's versatility extends to folk, jazz, pop, gypsy, bluegrass, and even rock genres, showcasing the violin's strength and adaptability in her performances. She has also been an integral part of various orchestras in São Paulo, performing under renowned conductors such as Eleazar de Carvalho and Lorin Maazel. Kostchak's solo career allows her to present original compositions and interpretations, further highlighting her deep connection with music and her instrument.
