Biography
Fernanda Takai is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, widely recognized as the lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Pato Fu. Born in the northern state of Amapá, she moved across Brazil during her childhood, eventually settling in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Her career began in the late 1980s with bands like Data Vênia and Sustados por 1 Gesto, the latter of which evolved into Pato Fu. With her distinctive soft timbre and eclectic musical approach, she helped Pato Fu achieve international acclaim, including being named one of the top ten bands in the world by Time magazine in 2001.\n\nIn 2007, Takai launched a successful solo career with the album 'Onde Brilhem os Olhos Seus', a tribute to the legendary bossa nova muse Nara Leão. This project earned her critical acclaim and established her as a significant solo artist in the MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) scene. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with a diverse range of Brazilian icons, including Rita Lee, Zélia Duncan, and Samuel Rosa of the band Skank.
