Biography

Fernando César Pereira was a Portuguese composer who created a large part of his work in Brazil. Born in Portugal on November 7, 1917, he stood out in Brazilian popular music, with over a hundred compositions recorded throughout his career. His partnership with G. Bianchi resulted in the samba-canção "Foi Você", recorded by Bill Farr in 1954, marking one of his first incursions into the Brazilian music scene.

Throughout his career, Fernando César collaborated with various artists and had his songs interpreted by names such as Dóris Monteiro, who recorded the hit "Dó-ré-mi" in 1955. His versatility led him to move across different genres, including samba-canção, bolero, and fox trot. In 1973, his composition "Marcianita" received a new rock arrangement, being recorded by Raul Seixas on the LP "Os 24 Maiores Sucessos da Era do Rock", demonstrating the breadth of his musical influence.

Fernando César passed away on June 14, 1992, leaving a legacy of over a hundred registered songs. His work, which spanned decades and genres, solidified his position as an important composer of Brazilian popular music, with notable partnerships and recordings that remain relevant.
