Biography

Antônio Fernando Leporace, known artistically as Fernando Leporace, is a renowned Brazilian instrumentalist, composer, and arranger, born in Rio de Janeiro on September 17, 1947. His musical career began in 1965 as a member of Grupo Manifesto, which gained prominence by winning the national phase of the II International Song Festival with the song "Margarida" by Gutemberg Guarabyra. This group, which also included his sister Gracinha Leporace, recorded two important albums: "Manifesto Musical" (1967) and "Grupo Manifesto nº 2" (1968).

Throughout his career, Fernando Leporace established himself as a highly technical and sensitive bassist, performing alongside countless renowned artists of Brazilian Popular Music. His discography includes participation in albums by names such as Edu Lobo, Gal Costa, Ivan Lins, Milton Nascimento, Joyce Moreno, Caetano Veloso, and Fátima Guedes, among many others. As a composer, his works have been recorded by artists such as Nana Caymmi, Alaíde Costa, Leny Andrade, and Sarah Vaughan, demonstrating the breadth and recognition of his work.

In addition to his career as an instrumentalist and composer, Fernando Leporace has also dedicated himself to composing soundtracks, such as that of the children's musical "Se a banana prende o mamão solta" (1985). In 1987, he released the LP "Aldeia" in partnership with Maurício Gueiros, featuring his own compositions. More recently, in 2023, he released his solo album, further consolidating his importance and legacy in Brazilian music.
