Biography

Ferrugem, stage name of Jheison Failde de Souza, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in Rio de Janeiro on October 20, 1988. The son of a backing vocalist, he was exposed to music from childhood, frequenting samba circles and learning to play the tantan in his adolescence. The nickname he adopted as his stage name came from his childhood due to his red hair, a feature that initially caused teasing among peers in the samba circles he attended.

His professional career gained national prominence after initial radio success with the song "Climatizar", which led him to sign with the record label Warner Music Brasil. In 2015, he released his self-titled debut album, featuring guest appearances by major musical names like Alcione and Anitta. Consolidating his space in the pagode scene, the artist released successive works of great repercussion, including albums and DVDs that featured collaborations with icons such as Thiaguinho, Péricles, and Ivete Sangalo.

The recognition of his work in Brazilian popular music earned him important award nominations, such as the Latin Grammy nomination in the Best Samba/Pagode Album category with the project "Prazer, eu sou Ferrugem". With a trajectory marked by radio hits and large-audience tours, Ferrugem established himself as one of the main exponents of contemporary romantic pagode.
