Biography

The Festa do Peão de Barretos, also known as "Barretão," is the largest rodeo event in Latin America and one of the largest in the world, held annually in the city of Barretos, in the interior of São Paulo. Its origin dates back to 1956, when a group of young people called "Os Independentes" organized the first festival with the aim of raising funds for charitable institutions. Inspired by American rodeos, the festival quickly became an icon of Brazilian country culture, celebrating traditions, the figure of the cowboy, and country music. Over the decades, the event has grown exponentially in terms of infrastructure and audience, transforming Barretos into the "Country Capital" of Brazil.

The festival is known not only for its thrilling rodeo competitions, which attract competitors from all over the world, but also for its grand musical lineup. Country music is the main attraction, featuring performances by established artists and new talents, but the event also makes room for other musical styles, such as funk and even international artists who have performed on its stages, like Shakira, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Shania Twain. The festival also stands out for its strong connection to philanthropy, with various actions aimed at raising funds for institutions like the Hospital de Amor.

The event's infrastructure is impressive, with the Parque do Peão occupying a vast area that includes a rodeo arena with a capacity for over 35,000 people, multiple stages, food areas, camping grounds, and complete infrastructure to welcome an audience of hundreds of thousands of people. The Festa do Peão de Barretos is a true symbol of country culture, attracting different generations and consolidating itself as a Brazilian cultural heritage, which reinvents itself every year without losing its roots.
