Biography
Filipe Ret is a prominent Brazilian rapper, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur born in Rio de Janeiro. He first emerged in the music scene by participating in underground MC battles in Lapa in 2003, having adopted his stage name from his earlier days as a graffiti writer. Balancing his artistic pursuits with higher education, he graduated in journalism before fully dedicating himself to music. Alongside collaborators such as Daniel Shadow and Mãolee, he co-founded Tudubom Records, which grew to become one of the most successful independent record labels in the country.
His breakthrough to national prominence came with the 2012 release of his debut studio album, Vivaz, under his own label. The project featured hit singles like "Neurótico de Guerra," which received heavy rotation on music video channels such as MTV and Multishow. Ret became known for his innovative style, frequently blending melodic hooks with intricate rhymed verses while incorporating philosophical themes and literary references. Following his initial success, he continued to expand his discography with the albums Revel in 2015 and Audaz in 2018, completing a celebrated trilogy of releases.
Throughout his career, Filipe Ret has cemented his legacy as a defining voice in Brazilian hip hop, collaborating with various artists and building a massive independent following. His contributions to culture and music have also earned him formal recognition, including receiving the prestigious Tiradentes Medal from the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.
