Biography

Flávio Borges Guimarães was born in Rio de Janeiro on November 10, 1963, establishing himself as one of the greatest exponents and pioneers of blues in Brazil. He studied harmonica with Maurício Einhorn and began his artistic career in the 1980s, introducing new sounds with diatonic harmonicas to the national scene. In 1986, he founded the band Blues Etílicos alongside musicians such as Otávio Rocha and Greg Wilson, a group that would become the most successful of the genre in the country.

Throughout his career, Flávio has shared the stage and recorded with major icons of national and international music, including memorable collaborations with artists such as Ed Motta, Paulo Moura, Alceu Valença, and Luiz Melodia, as well as foreign blues legends like Buddy Guy and Sugar Blue. With Blues Etílicos and in his solo career, marked by albums such as Little Blues and The Blues Follows Me, he has participated in important festivals such as Rock in Rio and the Free Jazz Festival.

His contribution to the dissemination of the harmonica in Brazil has earned him international and national recognition, participating in prominent events such as Harmonica's Night and the Rec-Beat festival. Established as a technical and artistic reference, Guimarães remains active in the preservation and innovation of Brazilian blues, influencing new generations of instrumentalists.
