Biography

Flor Gil is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born in New York City, hailing from a legendary musical and cultural lineage as the granddaughter of icons Gilberto Gil and Flora Gil, and the daughter of chef and presenter Bela Gil. Growing up between Rio de Janeiro and New York, she showed an early affinity for both culinary arts and music, eventually choosing to follow in her grandfather's footsteps. Her professional debut came at the age of eleven when she recorded a rendition of 'Refazenda' as the theme song for her mother's television program on GNT.

Following her early debut, Flor collaborated directly with her grandfather on the 2021 EP 'De Avô Para Neta', where the two interpreted classic tracks together, including a notable cover of 'Volare'. This successful partnership led to her joining the backing vocals for the 'Nós, A Gente' tour in 2022, allowing her to perform alongside Gilberto Gil across various cities in Brazil. Building upon these formative experiences, she prepared her debut studio album 'Cinema Love', featuring a blend of indie and pop-influenced original compositions alongside cherished covers.

As part of the vibrant new generation of Brazilian artists, Flor represents a continuation of the rich artistic traditions established by figures like her grandfather, while bringing her own contemporary sensibility to the scene.
