Biography

Flying Chair is a Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo, SP, in 2016. The band stands out for a sound that blends influences of punk rock, rock and roll, and pop melodies, with Portuguese lyrics and classic guitar tones. The current lineup features Chico Marques and Claudio Costa on guitars, Diego Basanelli on bass, and Pedro Leo on drums, with Ciro Pessoa on vocals. Ciro Pessoa, a central figure in the band, is also a writer and one of the founders of the iconic group Titãs, bringing a rich background of experiences in the Brazilian music scene to Flying Chair.

The band's self-titled album, released in 2017, features 12 tracks, 10 of which are unreleased. The work includes new renditions of songs by Ciro Pessoa, such as "Sonífera Ilha" (a Titãs hit) and "Inundação de Amor" (recorded by Ira!). The record also flirts with influences of Indian music, as in the title track "Flying Chair", which features the participation of sitar player Fábio Kidesh. The album's production was carried out in a "do-it-yourself" style, ranging from the recordings to the promotional material, reinforcing the band's autonomy and independent spirit.

Flying Chair's proposal is to make visceral rock and roll, addressing human pain, dramas, and social criticism, without losing the energy and attitude that characterize the genre. The band brings together generations of rockers who complement each other, driven by a common goal: to compose, play, and practice rock and roll with authenticity and vigor. The group has performed on various stages, consolidating its presence in the independent Brazilian rock scene.
