Biography

Fran Sérgio is a renowned Brazilian architect and carnival designer, born in Nilópolis on July 29, 1971. He is recognized as one of the most successful figures in the history of the Rio de Janeiro carnival, having secured eight championship titles as part of the carnival commission for the prestigious Beija-Flor samba school. Growing up in Nilópolis, his lifelong passion for carnival began in childhood when he marched in local parades and sketched costumes he saw on television. His extensive work with Beija-Flor eventually led him to collaborate with legendary figures in the samba community, including Milton Cunha and Laíla.

In addition to his legendary tenure at Beija-Flor, Fran Sérgio has lent his artistic vision to several other prominent samba schools in both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. After departing Beija-Flor, he worked with the Unidos de Vila Maria in São Paulo, returned to Águia de Ouro, and contributed to the carnival commissions of Unidos da Tijuca, União da Ilha, and Unidos de Lucas. His contributions to the visual splendor of the samba parades have earned him notable accolades such as the Estandarte de Ouro, Estrela do Carnaval, and Tamborim de Ouro awards.
