Biography

The Brazilian rock band Fresno was founded in November 1999 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, initially by high school friends who got together after a student union activity. Currently composed of Lucas Silveira on vocals and multiple instruments, Gustavo Mantovani on guitar, and Thiago Guerra on drums, the group has established itself as one of the main names in the emo and alternative rock scene in the country. Throughout its trajectory, the lineup has undergone several changes, featuring past members such as Esteban Tavares and Mario Camelo, and is currently based in São Paulo.

In its initial phase, marked by albums like Quarto dos Livros and Redenção, the ensemble stood out with sounds leaning toward pop rock and lyrics focused on romantic disappointments. Starting in 2010, with works like Revanche and Infinito, Fresno incorporated influences of hard rock, industrial rock, and electronic elements, expanding its themes to address social reflections, personal growth, and political issues, as seen in later albums such as Sua Alegria Foi Cancelada.

Throughout its career, the band has achieved significant national recognition, winning important awards such as the Video Music Brasil and the Prêmio Multishow, in addition to striking collaborations with various exponents of Brazilian music, such as Lenine, Emicida, Pabllo Vittar, and Chitãozinho e Xororó. Remaining independent at different times in its history, the group continues to sell out tours and release prominent projects in the contemporary music scene.
