Froid, born Renato Alves Menezes Barreto in Belo Horizonte, is a prominent Brazilian rapper and songwriter who has made a significant impact on the national hip-hop scene. His artistic name is a tribute to the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, adapted into a simplified Portuguese spelling. Known for his philosophical lyrics and thought-provoking themes addressing social issues, he has earned commercial recognition, including a gold record for the single 'SK8 do Matheus' and a double platinum certification for 'Lamentável, Pt. III'.

He began his musical journey in 2012 by co-founding the hip-hop group Um Barril de Rap alongside Sampa, Yank, and later beatmaker Disstinto. During this period, he sharpened his improvisational skills by participating in renowned freestyle competitions such as Batalha do Neurônio and Batalha do Museu in Brasília, which helped build his reputation within the Brazilian rap community. Following the dissolution of the group in 2017, Froid embarked on a successful solo career, quickly capturing listeners with engaging beats and introspective verses.

As a solo artist, he expanded his reach significantly through major tours and festival appearances, such as the João Rock festival in 2018, introducing his sound to broader audiences outside traditional hip-hop circles.
