Biography
O Funk Como Le Gusta is a renowned big band originating from the city of São Paulo, formed in the late 1990s, more precisely in 1998. The group stands out for its unique sound that merges elements of black music, samba, soul, Latin music, and electronic touches. Throughout its trajectory, the band has consolidated itself as one of the greatest exponents of the genre, rescuing and revaluing national black music through striking instrumentals and memorable jam sessions.
Since the release of its debut album, "Roda de Funk", in 1999, the ensemble has counted on the collaboration and participation of several renowned names in Brazilian music, such as Sandra de Sá, Fernanda Abreu, Jorge Ben Jor, and Marcelo D2. The record brought great projection and featured important artists from the scene, in addition to paving the way for later works that incorporated influences of chorinho and electronic experimentations, such as albums like "F.C.L.G." and "A Cura Pelo Som".
The group's discography also includes the live recording "Funk 'ao vivo' Como Le Gusta", released in 2005, and the album "A Nave-Mãe Segue Viagem", from 2015. With a heavy lineup that moves through horn sections and consistent grooves, the band has taken its music abroad, appearing on international compilations and holding performances that keep alive the strength and inventiveness of Brazilian samba-rock and instrumental funk.
