Biography

Gabriel Silva Felizardo, known artistically as Gabeu, was born in Franca, São Paulo, on April 15, 1998. The son of singer Solimões — a member of the famous sertanejo duo Rionegro & Solimões —, the artist grew up immersed in the rural universe, but found in music a way to express his identity as an openly gay man. He is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of queernejo, a musical movement that blends the aesthetics and rhythms of traditional sertanejo music with narratives and experiences of the LGBT community.

In 2019, Gabeu released his debut single, "Amor Rural", officially marking his entry into queernejo. The project drew attention for uniting countryside references with the queer agenda, leading to developments such as a remix EP and later hits like "Sugar Daddy". Over the following years, the singer collaborated with various names from the independent and national pop scene, such as Alice Marcone, Pabllo Vittar, and Banda Uó, expanding the reach of his compositions and consolidating his presence in the vanguard of contemporary Brazilian music.

The major milestone of his career came in 2021 with the release of his debut album, Agropoc. The work earned Gabeu a 2022 Latin Grammy nomination in the category of Best Sertanejo Music Album, making him the first LGBT artist to achieve such a feat with a record of the genre. Staying active in the scene with releases like "Lance Aberto" and partnerships with artists such as Joana Castanheira and Dornelles, Gabeu continues to redefine the boundaries of sertanejo.
