Biography

Gabriel Grossi is a renowned Brazilian harmonica player, composer, and music producer, widely recognized as one of the most important and creative instrumentalists in Brazilian and global instrumental music. Born in Brasília, in the Federal District, on August 20, 1978, Grossi began his musical journey as a self-taught artist, refining his technique with masters like Maurício Einhorn and studying with maestros like Ian Guest.

His career gained prominence starting in 2001, when he moved to Rio de Janeiro and joined Paulo Moura's group. Since then, he has collaborated with a vast array of renowned Brazilian music artists, including Zélia Duncan, Beth Carvalho, Ivan Lins, Chico Buarque, Wilson das Neves, Dominguinhos, Leila Pinheiro, Djavan, Lenine, and Milton Nascimento, among many others. His skill with the harmonica has led him to be considered one of the best in the world on his instrument, receiving praise from legends like Toots Thielemans, who described him as his successor.

Grossi has an expressive discography, with over 15 albums released, exploring diverse genres such as jazz, forró, MPB, and rock, demonstrating his versatility and ability to move between different musical universes. He was also a member of the Hamilton de Holanda Quintet, a group that won the Brazilian Music Award in 2007 and was a Latin Grammy finalist for three consecutive years. His solo work, such as the album "Plural" (2022), celebrates his nearly 25-year career and brings together collaborations with Brazilian and international artists, reaffirming his status as an innovative musician of global reach.
