Biography
Gabriel Leite is a versatile Brazilian musician, recognized for his talent as a drummer, percussionist, and instrumentalist.
Leite began his musical studies in 1998, inspired by his grandfather, who was president of a musical society. He studied at the Groove Music School in São Paulo for seven years and later at the Escola Portátil de Música in Rio de Janeiro. His career includes performances with various ensembles, such as the regional group of Rádio Nacional, Conjunto Quintal do Choro, Orquestra Gafieira Portátil, Regional Língua de Preto, and Trio Remexendo. In 2011, he played bass on the self-titled album by Camerata Brasilis, a group that also featured Glauber Seixas, Maria Souto, and Luís Barcellos, among others.
Beyond his work as a percussionist and bassist, Gabriel Leite has also gained recognition as a saxophonist and clarinetist. He released his second solo EP, "O tempo em mim," in 2021, showcasing his songwriting and instrumental skills. Leite has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Carlinhos de Jesus, Banda Jammil, Harmonia do Samba, Flávio Venturini, and Marcos Sabino. In 2011, he recorded a DVD honoring MPB musician Guilherme Arantes, which featured the artist himself and received support from notable figures in direction such as Guto Graça Mello and Carlinhos de Jesus. His 2012 DVD, "O Melhor Vai Começar," was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
