Biography

Gabriel Moura is a highly respected Brazilian singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and theatrical musical director. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began his musical journey at a young age, performing in bars with his guitar and later playing the bass in his first band, "Blues & Cia.". His career took a significant turn when he became the musical director for the TUERJ theater company, where he honed his skills in composing and directing for stage productions. This period also marked the beginning of a pivotal collaboration with Jorge Mário, who would later become the internationally renowned artist Seu Jorge.

Moura's artistic path is deeply intertwined with the development of Brazilian popular music. He was instrumental in the formation of the band Farofa Carioca, co-founded with Seu Jorge, which gained prominence in the late 1990s and contributed to the "Música Popular Carioca" movement. His songwriting prowess has led to numerous hits recorded by a wide array of Brazilian stars, including Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Alceu Valença, Ivete Sangalo, Elza Soares, Zeca Pagodinho, and Ana Carolina. His collaborations with Seu Jorge have yielded massive successes such as "Burguesinha," "Mina do Condomínio," "Amiga da Minha Mulher," and "Quem Não Quer Sou Eu," with several of these songs earning Latin Grammy awards.

Beyond his work as a singer and composer, Gabriel Moura is also recognized for his role as a producer and musical director. He served as artistic director and producer for Seu Jorge's "América Brasil" album, which won a Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Popular Music Album. His artistic vision extends to theatrical productions, where he has directed music for numerous plays. Moura is also the nephew of the legendary maestro Paulo Moura, from whom he inherited a rich musical legacy and with whom he collaborated for many years, further solidifying his place in the vibrant landscape of Brazilian music.
