Biography

Garota Safada is a prominent Brazilian electronic forro band originating from Fortaleza, Ceara. Founded by Valmira de Oliveira, widely known as Dona Bill and mother of the group's signature frontman, the ensemble initially featured the lead singer alongside a twelve-piece backing band. Over the course of their career, they released numerous successful albums and DVDs through major labels such as Som Livre, establishing themselves as a powerhouse of northeastern popular music.

The band achieved widespread mainstream success across the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, maintaining a rigorous touring schedule of over twenty-five shows per month. Their repertoire featured numerous hit singles including "Tentativas Em Vao", "Escravo do Amor", and "Fui Clonado", which propelled them onto high-profile television broadcasts on networks like TV Globo. Throughout its history, the group also featured several notable female vocalists sharing the stage with the lead singer, such as Marcia Fellipe, Mara Pavanelly, and Elayne Tyne.

Following a transition to a solo career by their primary frontman in 2014, the group underwent significant changes before eventually announcing a grand return. Alongside artists like Wesley Safadão who carried the band's legacy forward into contemporary forro, the group paved the way for modern electronic northeastern rhythms.
