Biography

Garotos da Rua is a Brazilian rock 'n' roll band formed in July 1983 in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The band achieved great national prominence in the 1980s by landing hits such as "Tô de Saco Cheio" and "Eu Já Sei", the latter being part of the soundtrack of Rede Globo's soap opera Mandala. Throughout its trajectory, the group stood out for blending influences of rock, blues, and rhythm and blues, establishing itself as one of the great exponents of rock gaúcho alongside names like Lobão and Acústicos & Valvulados.

The original classic lineup featured Bebeco Garcia, King Jim, Mitch Marini, and drummer Edinho Galhardi, later undergoing several reformulations and remaining active with new projects and lineups led by Edinho. The group released notable albums such as the self-titled Garotos da Rua, Dr. em Rock 'n' Roll, and Caminho da Estrada, in addition to collaborating with established artists like Celso Blues Boy. Even after Bebeco Garcia's passing in 2010, the group's legacy has continued to be perpetuated by its original and subsequent members through tours and new releases.
