Biography

Gay Anthony Vaquer, later known as Jay Anthony Vaquer, was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA, on March 2, 1948. He is an American musician and guitarist who became a prominent figure in the Brazilian music scene, particularly for his collaborations with the legendary Brazilian rock artist Raul Seixas. Vaquer's connection to Seixas was not only professional but also familial, as he was Seixas's brother-in-law. His musical journey began in Germany, where his father was stationed with the army, and he honed his skills in bands like The Bitter End and Mary's Grave.

In 1969, Vaquer married Brazilian singer Jane Duboc, with whom he later had a son, Jay Vaquer, who also became a musician. Vaquer's solo career in Brazil saw the release of his album "The Morning Of The Musicians" in 1973, a jazz-infused work with rock, blues, and Brazilian music elements, featuring Jane on vocals. He also contributed to various other albums, showcasing his versatility as a guitarist and composer.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Vaquer also ventured into advertising, creating "Vaquer Productions." His influence extended to his son, Jay Vaquer, who followed in his musical footsteps, becoming a successful singer-songwriter in Brazil.
