Genocidio is a pioneering Brazilian extreme metal band formed in São Paulo in 1986. They are recognized as one of the earliest death/black/thrash metal acts in the Brazilian underground scene. The band's name, chosen by guitarist Wanderley Perna, was intended to shock and denounce intolerance and violence. Genocidio's early sound was characterized by a brutal death metal style, drawing comparisons to bands like Napalm Death and Benediction, with an raw production that contributed to their underground appeal.

Throughout their career, Genocidio has maintained a dedication to traditional extreme metal, navigating over three decades of musical evolution and challenges. Their debut EP, "Genocídio," released in 1988, is considered a historical document of early Brazilian extreme music. The band's influential album "Depression," originally released in 1990, showcased a blend of primitive Brazilian extremity with death rock and early black metal elements, demonstrating their experimental approach and raw energy.
