Biography
Gera Samba is a Brazilian pagode baiano and samba de roda group originating from Salvador, Bahia. Formed in 1992 by ten musicians who met at school, the ensemble initially played in small bars and popular dances, standing out with hits like "A Cordinha" and featuring vocalists such as Compadre Washington and Beto Jamaica.
Throughout its journey, the band underwent notable transformations, including the introduction of dancers in 1994 and splits that gave rise to other important names in the music scene, such as Terra Samba and É o Tchan!. Hits like "É o Tchan" boosted the group's popularity, turning it into the major sensation of the Salvador Carnival in 1996.
In the following years and more recently, under the leadership of different voices such as Marinho Fersan and Cris Mel, Gera Samba continued to renew its repertoire, betting on styles ranging from traditional samba (samba de raiz) to new releases like "É Verão Salvador". The group's trajectory remains a fundamental milestone in the consolidation of pagode baiano and axé music, dialoguing with the festive energy of artists such as Beto Jamaica and Compadre Washington.
