Biography

Gero Camilo is a renowned Brazilian poet, actor, director, singer, composer, and playwright, born in Fortaleza. He began his artistic journey taking theater classes at the Theatro José de Alencar before moving to São Paulo at age twenty-three to study at the Escola de Arte Dramática da USP (EAD). During his time at EAD, he developed both his acting craft and his literary output, successfully gaining admission by performing his original play A Procissão.

Throughout his career, Camilo has established himself as a prominent figure in Brazilian theater, writing, directing, and starring in acclaimed productions such as A Procissão, Aldeotas, and A Casa Amarela. Alongside his theatrical achievements, he has made significant contributions to Brazilian cinema, appearing in major films like Bicho de Sete Cabeças, Carandiru, and Cidade de Deus, as well as working extensively in television.

In addition to his dramatic work, Gero Camilo has pursued a successful career in music as a singer and songwriter. He released his debut album, Canções de Invento, in 2008, followed by Megatamainho in 2014. His artistic contributions often bridge cultural and thematic connections within Brazilian arts, drawing comparisons to other notable cultural figures and collaborating within vibrant theatrical and musical circles similar to artists like Renato Aragão and various MPB singer-songwriters.
