Biography

Gigantes do Brasil was a prominent Brazilian electronic forró band formed in early 2016 by former members of the iconic group Calcinha Preta, specifically vocalists Daniel Diau, Silvânia Aquino, and Paulinha Abelha. The group quickly gained traction through heavily shared promotional videos and released their debut single, "Volta", in March 2016, followed by a landmark promotional DVD recorded before a crowd of over 60,000 fans in Salvador, Bahia. Despite their rapid rise, the band experienced several hiatuses and lineup changes, including a 2019 return featuring new members such as Ana Gouveia, Adriano Sill, and Cláudio Livier, who performed a Portuguese adaptation of Lady Gaga's "Shallow" titled "Recomeçar".

Following the departure of founding members like Daniel Diau to pursue solo careers, and subsequent shifts involving artists like Naldo Teixeira and Danny Show, the band navigated a series of intermittent comebacks and member rotations. The group's style heavily relied on the romantic and energetic tropes characteristic of electronic forró, deeply echoing the musical lineage of their parent band Calcinha Preta. Although their active periods were often short-lived, concluding with final activities around 2022, they left a distinct footprint within the northeastern forró landscape.
